On February 14, Ray Johnson observed a PEREGRINE FALCON, 3 BALD EAGLES, and
a EURASIAN WIGEON among other birds on the Walla Walla Delta.

Craig Corder and Judy Stevens birded Whitcomb Island on February 21 and
discovered 2 or 3 ROSS' GEESE among about 300 SNOW GEESE. While just west
of the island they found a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE, several HERMIT and VARIED
THRUSHES, a NORTHERN SHRIKE, a FOX SPARROW and several GOLDEN-CROWNED
SPARROWS.

On February 23, in the evening, Mary Lilga observed a pair of GREAT HORNED
OWLS mating atop a telephone pole near the corner of Harris and Park
Streets in Richland.

Nancy LaFramboise and I (Bob Woodley) birded WE Johnson Park in Richland on
February 24 where we heard a VIRGINIA RAIL, and saw a GREAT HORNED OWL, a
HERMIT THRUSH and a FOX SPARROW among other species.

Diane Leist of Benton City reported 2 HARRIS' SPARROWS at her feeder on
February 25.

The following day, Fran Kelly saw a STELLER'S JAY in her yard but failed
to supply a phone number or location, so that this bird which is very rare
locally could not be confirmed or shared.

On February 28, Craig Corder and Judy Stevens again birding Whitcomb Island
confirmed the presence of 4 ROSS' GEESE among 260 SNOW GEESE and also found
an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW. While on the westside of the causeway to Crow
Butte State Park they called in a SWAMP SPARROW with a tape of its song.

Also on February 28, Ruth Fischer and I observed 7 GREATER YELLOWLEGS in
the remains of the Columbia Park lagoon and a drake EURASIAN WIGEON near
the Kiwanis Duck Pond in the park, all of which Ruth had discovered the
previous evening. Near the north end of Logston Blvd in Kennewick, Ruth
and I found a LINCOLN'S SPARROW that has been there since at least February
9 and heard SANDHILL CRANE passing over toward the north.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
