Just a quick note so that you can get it onto your calendars now. The
1998 Annual Meeting of the Western Field Ornithologists will be held
October 1-4, in Arcata, California. The City of Arcata is located at the
north end of Humboldt Bay in the heart of the Redwoods. The region
supports many resident and migrant birds and is frequently host to a
variety of rarities at that time of year.

We're anticipating many good presentations and, of course, field trips.
Additional information will be sent out and the WFO web page will be
updated as the information becomes available.

CALL FOR PAPERS
---------------
Presentations should emphasize field-oriented descriptive ornithology,
with appeal to both the amateur and professional. To help give the
meetings a local flavor, we are especially looking for topics that
originate or appeal to the northern California/southern Oregon region,
though any paper from the WFO region will be considered.

Ron LeValley is organizing the Local Committee, initial contacts should be
made through him at Mad River Biologists. His E-mail address is:

MadRivrBio at aol.com

Hope to see you there. Please forward this to all who may be interested.

Cheers,
-Gj
