Tweeters; Thanks to all of you who provided me with input. This will
also be a response to those who asked to know what responses I received.
My question was in regard to 10x binocs to take to Europe in place of one
of our 8x42
Swift ultralites and in lieu of taking the Kowa spotting scope. (did not
want to worry about losing it or having it stolen). After considering
our need to have greater magnification than 8x with us we have made the
following decision:
Instead of buying expensive 10x binocs and only having slightly more
power than our
8x binocs we decided to get the Celestron 50mm 12-36 zoom spotting
scope. A great little scope complete with hard carrying case and
mini-tripod!! And the cost was far less than most of the 10x binocs.
It works great on the camera shoulder gunstock
that I bought at a garage sale for $2.00. It will also stay in our van
so we will always have a scope when we don't want to risk a theft of the
Kowa. It will also be used as the window mount scope since I have a fear
of some day crushing the Kowa with the power windows. Hey, when you are
retired you have to watch the budget!
Thanks again. Hans Spokane
