Mark Bross and I visited Vancouver Lake today and saw our first
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW of the year. We then drove about 50 yards an saw a
NORTHERN SHRIKE. Lots of SANDHILL CRANES were seen.

We saw a flock of 12 female HOODED MERGANSERS with no male in sight. Is
this normal.

When scoping the CANADA GEESE we saw one with a distinctive white rimg
between its neck and breast. It was a medium to small bird with a short
neck with a lightish breast. Based on pictures in Bellrose and ODF&G
information booklet we concluded that it was an "ALEUTIAN". Please provide
feedback.
