Hi All,
There are finally small and treasured signs that the season is changing.
This morning the air seemed filled with bird sounds. The conk-a-reeee of the
Red-winged Blackbird combined with honking Canada Geese seems to epitomize
spring. And despite its commonness, is there anything as majestic as a pair
of calling Canada Geese settling from the air onto a small marsh. The Tundra
Swans are accumulating; first 3, then 4 more, than 1 more, than another. I
guess I'll have to learn how to ID these guys from the bottom up as they are
usually head down, feet up, feeding.
TUNDRA SWAN - 9
CANADA GOOSE - 30
AMERICAN WIGEON - 1
MALLARD - 13
COMMON GOLDENEYE - 8
BUFFLEHEAD - 40
BELTED KINGFISHER - 1
NORTHERN FLICKER - 1
COMMON RAVEN - 23
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET - 8
BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE - 2
PINE SISKIN - 168
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD - 4

Cheers
