Hello tweets,

All this talk of bluebirds has reminded me that I forgot to put a message
on about our trip east of the mountains last Friday. I have a bluebird
trail on Swauk Prairie, just east of Cle Elum, and went over to check
things out. We had three male mountain bluebirds, Sialia currucoides, in
what seemed pretty aggravated behavior around one box on Ley Road, another
three males (different birds) further down Swauk Prairie Road flying across
the field, and one male western bluebird, S. mexicana, a little further
down at the only box where I have had westerns nest in the past. Also saw
horned larks, Eremophila alpestris, all along in this area, ca. 15 in all.

In the fields just west of the Teanaway Road turnoff, there were four bald
eagles in the field, one adult, two sub-adults, and a juvenile; just a bit
further along the river were three more bald eagles. Also, redtails,
ravens, and a fair number of roughlegs were seen during the day. I know we
saw more, but don't have the notes at hand. Just wanted to comment on the
bluebirds for the most part.

And, I still haven't seen a turkey vulture this year!!
