Uh, huh. Just got off the phone with Russ Tchachuk from Roberts Creek near where
the Xantus' Hummer has been parked (Russ says this female Xantus' is looking very
"broody" lately; he figures she will grab the first Rufous male that flies
by...). He observed two Pectoral Sandpipers and a Greater Yellowlegs near his
home a couple of weeks ago (the exact date was in his notebook upstairs). Usual
passage time for Pecs in the P.G. area is Week 1 May! It appears that we either
have a lot of wintering holdovers or very early migrants this year. Also a Rufous
Hummer was observed at Queen Charlotte City, Queen Charlotte Is. off B.C's North
Coast Feb. 23, 1998 - about 3-4 weeks ahead of schedule.
