On Saturday, March 7th, my brother Bill and I tried for the Clay-colored
Sparrow at the junction of W. Snoqualmie Valley Road and the
Woodinville-Duvall Road. We had a lot of sparrow action, with sparrows
constantly flying in and out of the long grass, but had no luck with the
Clay-colored. We did see two White-throated Sparrows, one appeared to be a
worn, first-winter (?) bird and the other was a distinctly patterned bird
of the tan-lored race. I probably had my single day's record of Lincoln's
Sparrows in the area, American Pipits were around and Marsh Wrens and a
single Virginia Rail were calling. A male Eurasian Widgeon was with the
widgeon flocks in the area. A nice morning, all in all.

Good birding,

Tim
