Today March, 10 the first RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, a female,
returned to my feeders in Skamania County.
Yesterday I drove up the Gorge through Skamania County and into
Klickitat County, as far East as Dallesport.
Skamania County :
At Franz Lake 5 TREE SWALLOWS were skimming the waters.
Below Bonneville Dam at the Hamilton Island Recreation Area, 3 WESTERN
BLUEBIRDS were along the entrance road.
The RUDDY SHELDUCK is still at Rock Creek Cove in Stevenson. Here in the
Columbia River there were 3 RED-NECKED GREBES.
Klickitat County:
The male TUFTED DUCK is still in the Columbia River, West of the
Bingen Marina. There was a single COMMON LOON on Rowland Lake.
A drive along TIdyman Road, at Dallesport, produced a female
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD in the flock of blackbirds, cowbirds and
starlings near the farmhouse Birds at the ponds included DOUBLE-CRESTED
CORMORANT, GREAT BLUE HERON, CANADA GOOSE, GREEN-WINGED TEAL, MALLARD,
NORTHERN PINTAIL, NORTHERN SHOVELER, GADWALL, RING-NECKED DUCK, LESSER
SCAUP, COMMON GOLDENEYE, BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, BUFFLEHEAD, HOODED
MERGANSER, RUDDY DUCK, BALD EAGLE, AMERICAN COOT, KILLDEER, AMERICAN
CROW,AMERICAN ROBIN,NORTHERN SHRIKE and STARLING.
