I am certainly enjoying our nice winter weather over here - not spring
until March 21! But yesterday, 3/10, I did see my first Western
bluebirds south of Liberty Lake on Molter Rd (Delorme c8), and my first
Western meadowlarks on Coulee Hite Rd & Wood rd(Delorme c2 ).

The swans are piling in - approximately 41 at Saltese Flats (Delorme c7) -
all look like Tundra Swans along with a couple of bald eagles. At the
south end of Eloika Lake (Delorme d6) up to 75 Tundra Swans and 4
Trumpeter Swans have been seen and several hundred N. pintails.
They have also been seen at Loon Lake, Davis Lake, Callispell Lake and
in the Chewelah Valley.

Last friday, I saw two Gr. white-fronted geese mixed in with a flock
of 30 Canada geese feeding in a field on Allen rd just east of Hwy 2
(Delorme d6). I haven't seen any swallows yet, but any day now!

enjoy yourselves,
Howard Ferguson
