Say's Phoebe singing today along the river.

I found my mystery singer, and found out why it was a mystery. It was a
case of smoke-n-mirrors, bird-throwing-his-voice, no-wonder-I-couldn't
find it auditory misplacement. The bird was not singing in the
sagebrush on the steep hill outside my front door. It was singing from
the top of the ponderosa pine at the top of the hill. It was/is a
junco. The bird book says they often sing in winter; does that explain
why we start hearing it in early February? Is it at the top of that pine
singing all winter and we just aren't listening for it?
