Great day of birding today!

At the Fill this morning, I saw over 50 species, with highlights as follows:

Tree Swallow 3
Violet-green Swallow 1 Definitive looks
Gr. White-fronted Goose 1 With Canadas - left around noon
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1 Harassed by crows
Yellow-rumped Warbler 3 Gorgeous male Audubons
Lincoln's Sparrow 1
Bald Eagle 1 Immature
Wood Duck 2 Pair
Western Meadowlark 1

At Foster Island I found an Anna's Hummingbird nest with the female sitting
on it, just south of Hwy 520.

I also saw a Virginia Rail from the raised platform.

There were also two very small (large Mallard size) very dark Canada Geese,
with tiny bills at the big pond. What race might these be? They were
darkest just where the neck met the chest. In the NGS guide, the closest
picture was the minima, which matched the overall shape, and matched the
size of the bill. The birds I saw might even have been darker.
