Steve Giles and I birded parts of the Okanogan region on March 14.
Highlights were 150+ snow buntings in a horse pasture a few miles north of
Muskrat Lake, 20+ white-winged crossbills in the Sitzmark area and 100+
redpolls where the sharp-tailed grouse were supposed to be on Mary Ann Creek
road several miles west of Chesaw. At Highland Park at dusk and dawn, we
heard great horned and sawhet owls, but no great grey owls.

On Sunday the 15th, farther south in Northrup Canyon, we heard 3 or 4
long-eared owls just before dawn. We also saw three white-throated swifts
in the canyon a few hours after dawn.
