On Sunny Shuswap Lake

I previously reported what I thought to be a Lapland Longspur at my feeder.
Thanks to a lot of help from Michael Price I am now confident that we have
correctly identified it as a first-winter Harris Sparrow. It has spent the
winter here from mid December to the present, it's my first HASP.

The past week has been great birding in the Shuswap. We saw the first
Mountain Bluebirds of the year, up on Line 17 Road, Celista. The rest of
my list was spotted from our own yard, a southern exposure overlooking
Shuswap Lake:
Red-Breasted Nuthatches
Black Capped Chickadees
Mountain Chickadees
Pine Siskins, about 50
Evening Grosbeaks 30 to 40
Fox Sparrow
Dark Eyed Juncos
Bald Eagle, regularly passes by
American Crows
Common Raven,
All of the above have wintered here this year.

Spring Arrivals:
American Robins
Stellers Jays
Red Shafted Northern Flicker
Pileated Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker,
Rufous Sided Towhee
House Finch
Song Sparrow
Red-Winged Blackbirds
European Starling, unfortunately every year a few more arrive!
White and green swallows passed overhead, but kept going, 'ours' haven't
returned yet.

No hummers to report yet either.
