Hi Tweets,

Killdeers Charadrius vociferus, like some other shorebirds such as Solitary
Sandpipers Tringa solitaria, are often nocturnal, whether as migrants (a
Killdeer calling from very high up in the early March or August night sky is
likely a migrant) and also fly from one feeding area to another during the
night. They call while flying in to shorelines and mudflats, sodfarms,
short-grassed schoolyards and sports fields. How do they see to feed?
Probably easily: that's a pretty big eye for the size of the bird.

Who's on first? At three AM, probably a Killdeer.
