Spent a couple hours at Nisqually today. It was pretty quiet, too early for
a lot of passerines, but things are starting up.

The only notable observations were:

A male Wood Duck mounting a female Hooded Merganser. They flew in
together, so the Hoody was as confused as the Woody. What would you name
the issue of this encounter?

A woodpecker (sp.?) drumming in answer to machine-gun bursts at Ft. Lewis.
Which one was defending territory? Both?
