This is a magnificant site, and I'm glad that it's been posted. I do give
field trips for those who are interested. It's not just a wonderful birding
spot, but it is also historically signicant -- the Duwamish lived here for
over 1,500 years. Their graveyard is located nearby, and the longhouse was
located on the site. The Burke Museum has many (over 100, we've been told)
boxes of artifacts from this site in storage.

Incidentally, there's between 45-50+ gbh nests this year, meaning that there
are at least 90 great blue herons. This is the best year since they were first
predated by bald eagles March 10 of either 1990 or 1991. Another thing I love
about this site is that every one of the critters is wild, even the mallards.
