Howdy Birders,

We covered part of southern Benton County Saturday afternoon.
Good birds include an amazing 5 EURASIAN WIGEONS at Whitcom
Island in a flock of 1,000+ American Wigeons. Two breeding
plumaged WHITE PELICANS were also there. A couple of
LONG-BILLED CURLEWS were seen; 1 at Crow Butte & 1 at McNary
Dam. Our first 1998 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was in a large
flock of Brewer's Blackbirds west of Plymouth at Agra Northwest Farms
HQ. Four EARED GREBES were above McNary Dam near where
they seen a couple weeks ago. At least 10 HORNED GREBES were
at Crow Butte State Park with one in breeding plumage. A lone
TUNDRA SWAN was also there.
40 SANDHILL CRANES flew over west of Plymouth. Most of the
BALD EAGLES were gone with only 1 adult & 5 immatures still on the
Umatilla NWR. Gone were the Snow & Ross' Geese & Pintails. 4
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were still north of Patterson. No swallows
yet!
Good Birding,
Craig
