Went birding in the snoqualmie valley today and despite some showers, the
birding at times was rather decent.
Highlights were:
At Sikes lake perhaps the most Swallows I've seen so far this year with
rough estimates of 180 Violet-green, 125 Tree, and 8-10 Nrthern
Rough-winged.
At the slough that runs by N34th just north of Fall City, we had 1
Hutton's Vireo
3 Woodpeckers (Downy, Red-breasted and Pileated) and some raptor action
with at first only one adult redtail, then after it left Two adult
GOSHAWKS were soaring at about 300 feet in the air. This was about 1:30
this afternoon.
They finally flew back up into the hills. Does anybody have any evidence
of nesting in this area? The two were acting like a pair.
