Rose, Susan Collicott and I all went to the Arboretum this Saturday morning
to see Mrs. Hummingbird on her nest. While waiting for Susan, Rose and I
saw a male Anna's flying from treetop to treetop across the street from the
visitor's center, and he was feating on lots of little bugs hovering at the
tops of the trees.

The female is still sitting on her nest. We watched her add a little more
stuff to the nest while we were there, so it looks like she's still
brooding. Given the first sighting early last week, those eggs should be
hatching any time now.

A Virginia Rail was heard in the grass off the walk between Foster and
Marsh islands.

Rose and I watched a sharp-shinned hawk make its way from tree to tree
around our apartments on Sunday morning.

The Heron's near Redmond Town Center are still busily building nests too.
I'm going to be doing a bit of checking to see if any brooding has begun.
