Well, I do still have my $30 pair that hit the tree. (They were in a
zipped backpack, and somehow, when I pulled the pack out of the truck
and swung it onto my back, they managed to continue flying another
20 feet, smacking square into a tree and then a rock on the ground.)
And they still work!
