As the average arrival date here for Caspian Tern Sterna caspia is 4.29, we
now know that it takes roughly four weeks for arrival birds to move up the
coast from southern WA to the Inside Passage/Georgia Strait, hardly a
headlong northward rush. It's a fair bet that CATE would turn up on the
outer coast of Vancouver Island--say Tofino--somewhat sooner than that, though.
