To quote from Campbell et al's Birds of BC, "Extreme dates are 19 April...",
one at Equimault Lagoon in 1982.

So 1998 is offering an extraordinarily early movement this year, I'd guess
linked to the ENSO-related northward slosh of warmer offshore waters.
Perhaps this means the other seabird migrants will be correspondingly early,
but in the absence of regular migration reports north of WA, that's just a
guess.
