Hello all,

Just a quick report from a rained out hawkwatch on Mt. Erie (near
Anacortes) yesterday. We arrived just before 1000 and the rain started at
1130 - two redtails and an adult bald eagle were *all* we saw. Well, there
was one junco in a nearby tree.... Nothing was flying, twittering, or
showing itself, probably due to the fairly strong, gusty wind from the
southeast.

At 1130 we headed for the Samish flats and mostly birded from the truck.
Bald eagles and redtails were peeking over nest edges here and there. A
roughleg, a male northern harrier at the west 90 (no prairie falcon), and
several redtails were about, raptorwise.

Saw a huge mixed flock of green-winged teal and wigeons on the north side
of Sunset Road; distant flocks of swans in three different fields, but no
snow geese; lots of great blue herons everywhere. Seems like the rookery
(and eagle nest) at the beginning of March Point is doing fine. Otherwise,
it was scattered mallards and wigeons in fields and blackbirds and robins
in and around buildings and yards. Not a *bad* day, but could've been better.
