Took a couple of hours yesterday afternoon to do a scout of Coal Creek
Park in preparation for an East Lake Washington Audubon Bird Walk I will
be leading there on Saturday morning (details at end of message).
Among the birds I spotted were:

Bullocks Oriole (2)
Western Tanager (4)
Lazuli Bunting (3!!)
Black Headed Grosbeak (many)
American Dipper (2 - looking paired to me)
Orange Crowned Warbler
Yellow Warbler
MacGillivray's Warbler
Black Throated Grey Warbler
Yellow Rumped Warbler
Townsends Warbler
Unidentified Warbler (looked Palm to me, but ...)
Northern Saw Whet Owl
Pileated Woodpeckers (3)
RB Sapsucker
Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers side by side.
Ruffed Grouse
GOLDEN EAGLE (I'm seeing him regularly near Newcastle)
Belted Kingfisher (Female)

Also yesterday on my way home I saw 5 bald eagles in the very short
stretch of I405 between 112th SE and Coal Creek Parkway in Bellevue. 3
Adults, 1 "Osprey" stage and 1 immature.

Coal Creek Park Bird Walk -

Saturday, May 9, 9:00 am. Meet at Coal Creek Park Parking lot. To get
there take I405 to Coal Creek Parkway. Go east (south) on Coal Creek
Parkway. The entrance to the park is approximately .2 (2/10ths) of a
mile South of the stoplight at Forest Drive on the LEFT side of the
street right next to Coal Creek. The park is creekside, with very large
cottonwoods, willow, alder, salmonberry with mixed maple/fir forest
coming downslope to it. The walk is uphill on moderately narrow trails
for some limited portion. We'll go as far up as we get in an hour and
fifteen minutes and then return by the same route. I can give folks the
inside scoop on other local hot spots and I'll share some local history
as well. (I've also seen bears, coyotes, otters, and cougar tracks in
the park).
