Columbia Estuary Report - 5/6/98
There were 88 WHIMBREL and a MARBLED GODWIT at Wireless Rd this morning.
The shorebird movement is winding down on Clatsop Beach. There were about
2000 birds between Sunset Access and DelRey. Most of these were SANDERLINGS,
but there are still lots of DUNLIN and a few SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS.
A pair of adult VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were showing off their 3 newly
fledged youngster at the mitigation bank. This is the earliest I've
encountered fledgling VGSW and is no doubt a testament to the mildness of
this year's winter and spring.
