Tweets,

We at the Woodland Park Zoo were dismayed at the overall tenor of the Wall
Street Journal article on Bald Eagles. In addition to rehabbing and
releasing eagles and other raptors, we have spent the last twenty-five
years trying to educate our visitors about their value and beauty and the
need to preserve their habitat. Zookeeper Ernie Rose has dedicated his
entire carreer to this cause.

As a nation we have yet to come to terms with our relationship to wildlife.
We like animals as long as they know their place and don't interfere with
our activities or ability to make money. It is ironic that the story
occurred the same day as the report on Fortune 500 companies massive
lobbying efforts to undermine the Global Warming Treaty.

While incidents recounted in the story did happen, we regret, even
inadvertently, being part of the story. At the risk of sounding defensive
the comment about installing bright lights is total fabrication by the
reporter.

Raptor demonstration program at 2:30 PM.
