Friday, May 8, 4:02 PM: This is Bob Sundstrum, (206) 762-4327. At about 3:30
PM today, Friday, May 8th, Hal Opperman and I and others saw 2 BRISTLE-THIGHED
CURLEW right at the base of the Point Brown Jetty in Ocean Shores. The birds
were flying and calling and showing their field marks quite nicely. They did
fly north along the coastline where we lost them.. We don't know if they went
a few hundred yards or on up the coastline, but we're about to go and check
the golf course in case they have come in over there. But two good sightings
of BRISTLE-THIGHED CURLEWS. Hope you get out and look for them. That's all for
now.

Saturday, May 9, 10:34 AM: Michael Priebe, 623- 7798. Today at the Montlake
Fill at the main pond there was one pair of drake WOOD DUCKS, one SPOTTED
SANDPIPER and one SOLITARY SANDPIPER. Bye. Thanks.

May 9, 12:14 PM: Hi, this is Bill Tweit. I walked around Nisqually National
Wildlife Refuge this morning, Saturday the 9th. The 2 WHITE PELICANS are still
there as well as a female WILSON'S PHLAROPE, a GLAUCOUS GULL - out on the
flats - a first year bird and 9 WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. Also the WHITE-TAILED
KITES that are present at the Thurston County Glacial Heritage Park, along
Gate-Mima Road south of Littlerock Road were present the morning of May 6th.
That's an area where access is uncertain. I recommend if you are interested in
following up on those birds, contacting Russell Rogers and finding out how to
get in to that area.

May 9, 6:17 PM: Hi, this is Scott Hopkins(?); (206) 789-8990. Today,
Saturday, May 9th, I birded Montlake Fill this morning and saw five species of
swallow: the BARN, VIOLET- GREEN, NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED, CLIFF and TREE
SWALLOW. Also saw VAUX'S SWIFT. From there proceeded down to Chilsolay (??)
Beach Club where I saw female PURPLE MARTINS. Also noted at Montlake Fill were
2 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, about 6 LEAST SANDPIPERS and one male CINNAMON TEAL. And
that's about it. Good luck and good birding.

May 9, 9:56 PM: Hi, this is Stephen Mlodinow. Today Greg Toffic and I did the
Everett through Whidbey back through Skagit and Stanwood to Everett loop and
we had about 133 species - about the same as last week. Highlights included;
11 RUDDY TURNSTONES just north of the San de Fuca Pier on Whidbey Island;
there are still 700 or so BRANT in Padilla Bay viewable from March Point
including two Atlantic type BRANT; at the Stanwood Sewage Ponds there were 2
WILSON'S PHALAROPES; at 28th north of Norman Road which stretches from Silvana
toward Standwood, there was a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and at the Stanwood
Sewage Ponds there were still 29 REDHEAD. That's about it. Good luck and good
birding.
