Sightings for Sunday, May 10th

In an out of town report BRISTLE-THIGHED CURLEWS have been seen at various
locations in Oregon and Washington State. Two were seen at Washington's
Ocean Shores on Friday. These birds have not been relocated. Another 2 were
reported today from the South Jetty of the Columbia River in N.W. Oregon.

Closer to home the GREAT EGRET was again seen today at the juncture of
Debouville Slough and the Pitt River. Also at this location, seen in
over-flight, were 5 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE.

At Crescent Beach were 10 CASPIAN TERNS, 12 COMMON TERNS and an OLDSQUAW.
Nearby at Blackie Spit the MARBLED GODWIT population was 26. Ten WHIMBREL,
a BRANT and a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE were also reported.

Saturday, May 9th

The GREAT EGRET was at various locations along the Pitt River near
Debouville Slough.

BULLOCK'S ORIOLES were reported from Blackie Spit and Grant Narrow's R.P.
Also at Grant Narrow's R.P. on a VNHS outing were the Spring arrival CEDAR
WAXWINGS numbering 5 birds. A number of OSPREY were also observed.

OSPREYS were also reported from Debouville Slough, and Burnaby Mountain.

Queen Elizabeth Park had a good assortment of warblers with a
MACGILLIVRAY'S being most notable.

BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS were observed at Debouville Slough, Sea Island and
at 264th & 84th.

The MARBLED GODWIT count at Blackie Spit was 26 with 12 WHIMBREL, and 1
BRANT also present.

A TURKEY VULTURE was seen at Cypress in West Vancouver.

At Point Roberts were 260 BRANT, a BLACK OYSTERCATCHER, and 2 CASPIAN
TERNS.

On Boundary Bay between 88th and 96th were 3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, and a
PEREGRINE FALCON.

Iona produced 2 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, and 10 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS.

Friday, May 8th

Blackie Spit was the site of 10 MARBLED GODWITS and 14 WHIMBREL.

Thursday, May 7th

A flock of 25 MARBLED GODWIT and 5 WHIMBREL were reported from Blackie
Spit.

The Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty was the location of 4 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS. Not
far away at Point Roberts were another 2. Also at the Point were 4 CASPIAN
TERNS.
