Tweets,
Jason Starfire and I did a King County Big Day yesterday May 10th. We had
112 species, tying last years mark. The Best bird by far was a COMMON
NIGHTHAWK at Snoqualmie pass at 6:20 AM, the earliest I have never seen
this species in WA. Other notable highlights were all 3 scoters in
DesMoines. In all we had:
1 Loon (Common)
4 Grebes
3 Herons
2 Geese
19 Ducks
4 Hawks
1 Falcon (Peregrine)
2 Gallinaceous
4 Shorebirds
4 Gulls
3 Alcids
2 Pigeons
3 Owls
1 Nighthawk
1 Swift
1 Kingfisher
1 Hummingbird
4 Woodpecker
3 Flycatcher
5 Swallow
3 Corvids
2 Chickadee
1 Bushtit
3 Wren
2 Kinglet
3 Thrush
1 Starling
2 Vireo
8 Warblers
1 Tanager
1 Grosbeak
1 Towhee
4 Sparrows
1 Junco
3 Blackbirds
5 Finches
House Sparrow
The strangest highlight was at 9:40 PM last night in Montlake
Fill. We saw a red 4 door sudan driving through the fill, yes I did say
through the fill, on Wahkiamum lane. The car stopped about 100 yds. from
the CUH parking lot and backed up to the E-5 parking lot. Wonder what the
birds thought, probably about ready to call in the RBA and report a rare
human. ;).
