Depending on the plant, the range of natural nectar is three-to-one to
five-to-one, water to natural sugar, so water to white sugar within that
range is all you need to offer the hummingbirds: the birds rehydrate at
feeders and the sugar gives them energy--they pick up their vitamins and
proteins from insect prey. At best, commercial 'nectar' mixes are
expensively superfluous.
