Hi All,
What great birding there is this time of year. Every outing has at least one
surprise. And no sooner do you enjoy the return of one species, than they're
off and another has shown up. It's enough to spoil ya rotten.

Ducks: The large flocks of a few weeks ago are gone. The permanent residents
are nesting. I watched a mixed flock of Mallards, American Wigeons and
Blue-wing Teal as they swam after and picked at the flotsam moving from the
rivers and down the lake as a result of the peaking of the spring freshet.

Geese: The resident Canada Geese have goslings. There also appears to be a
flock of about 16 who are still on their way north. They have two Snow Geese
accompanying them. (This is my first local sighting of Snow Geese).

Warblers: Nashville, MacGillivray's, Orange-crowned, a few common
Yellow-throats and Yellow-rumps made their appearance a couple of weeks ago.
Today, Yellow Warblers seem to be everywhere.

Flycatchers: We seem to have Hammond's in abundance. No others have shown
yet.

Hummers: Rufous and Calliope's already into courting aerial loops.

Sparrows: White-crowned have mostly moved on. Savannah and Chipping much in
evidence. The big wave of Song Sparrow has passed, but lots of nesting pairs
around.

And, of course, Wild turkeys still strutting their stuff.

Lots more, but this is already way too long.

Happy birding y'all
