Sightings for Wednesday, May 13th

A breeding plumage AMERICAN AVOCET was present on the SW pond at Iona
this evening. Also during the day at Iona was one of the arrival BLACK
SWIFTS
reported today.

The other report for BLACK SWIFTS came from Campbell Valley Park with 2
being spotted. Also observed at the park was a BARRED OWL.

The MARBLED GODWIT tally at Blackie Spit was 12 with 7 WHIMBREL being
counted.

At the Riefel Refuge were 40 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE.

Tuesday, May 12th

The GREAT EGRET was observed on Goose Bar from the end of Harris Rd. in
Pitt Meadows. This is the Island just north of the mouth of Debouville
Slough on
the Pitt River.

>From Grant Narrows R.P. were the resident MUTE and TRUMPETER SWANS
along with 2 BULLOCK'S ORIOLES and a SANDHILL CRANE. Four RED-
BREASTED MERGANSERS were seen approx. 1.5 km south of Grant Narrows.

A TURKEY VULTURE was reported in over flight of Granville and 41st in
Vancouver.

A GREEN HERON was seen near Hwy #1 & Glover Road in Langley.

BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS were reported from north Coquitlam and Sea
Island.

Six PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were observed at Iona.

Queen Elizabeth Park was the location of 2 WESTERN TANAGERS.

A pair of CRESTED MYNAS appear to be nesting at 1920 Wylie in Vancouver.

A SWAINSON'S THRUSH was seen at Cecil Green Park.

Monday, May 11th

Out of town the BRISTLE-THIGHED CURLEWS were reported from the South
Jetty of the Columbia River in N.W. Oregon. For more information on these
birds

The GREAT EGRET was located at Goose Bar on the Pitt River. A GREEN
HERON was reported from Debouville Slough.

>From Blackie Spit came reports of 29 MARBLED GODWIT, 8 WHIMBREL, and
2 BULLOCK'S ORIOLE.

Two other BULLOCK'S ORIOLE were reported from Grant Narrows R.P. Also at
this location were a SWAINSON'S THRUSH and an AMERICAN BITTERN.

A BARRED OWL was spotted at Campbell Valley R.P.

Sunday, May 10th

Two BRISTLE-THIGHED CURLEW reported from the South Jetty of the
Columbia River in N.W. Oregon.

The GREAT EGRET was seen at the juncture of Debouville Slough and the Pitt
River. Also at this location, seen in over-flight, were 5 GREATER WHITE-
FRONTED GEESE.

At Crescent Beach were 10 CASPIAN TERNS, 12 COMMON TERNS and an
OLDSQUAW. Nearby at Blackie Spit 26 MARBLED GODWIT, 10 WHIMBREL, a
BRANT and a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE were reported.
