present near Little Rock in Thurston County: two AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS still
present at Bowerman Basin: 87 MARBLED GODWITS, one BLUE-WINGED TEAL and one
CINNAMON TEAL at Ocean Shores Golf Course: 15 WHIMBREL and 54 MEW GULLS at
Bill's Spit in Ocean Shores: 45 COMMON TERNS and 8 BROWN PELICANS, 12 SOOTY

Harbor: an AMERICAN BITTERN at Ocean City State Park, one WANDERING TATTLER,
250 GREATER WHITE- FRONTED GEESE and 6 BLACK SCOTERS at the Ocean Shores Game

on May 11th at Fort Stevens State Park near the South Jetty of the Columbia
River in Oregon. Thank you.

May 12, 4:46 PM: Hi. This is Scott Downes 361-7073. Today at Montlake Fill
from 1:00 to 1:05, I had one BANK SWALLOW. This can be found between the main
pond and Union Bay. After 1:05 the bird could not be reseen. Also had 5 or 6
BLUE-WINGED TEAL on Shoveler Pond. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

May 12, 6:54 PM: Hi. This is Stephen Mlodinow. Today, Jason Starfire, Yvonne
Bombardier and I went down to look at the BRISTLE-THIGHED CURLEWS. Which were
fortunately still present. at the South Jetty of the Columbia River. One bird
was fairly obscure and hard to find in the marsh by Parking Lot C. The second
bird was feeding where the tide line hits the jetty a hundred yards from
Parking Lot C. This bird was walking in and out among the rocks of the jetty
grabbing crabs which it ate with great relish. Later in the day we went to
Tokeland and had a 110 MARBLED GODWITS, half a dozen LONG-BILLED CURLEWS and
20 WHIMBREL. At Westhaven SP at Westport we had 50 or so SOOTY SHEARWATERS, a
PARASITIC JAEGER, a small number of BROWN PELICANS and a HEERMANN.'S GULL.
That's it. Good luck and good birding.

[This transcription is delayed as the transcriber went down to the South Jetty
on the 13th to see the BRISTLE-THIGHED CURLEWS at the South Jetty. They were
both present and afforded great views. On the 14th I visited Tokeland,
Westhaven State Park, Bowerman Basin (tide way out), and the spots where I
judged from past experience would be most likely to have large shorebirds.
Yes, I did drive the beach. Little out of the ordinary, 7 COMMON TERNS & 4
WHIMBREL at Tokeland. 5 RED KNOTS at the beach south of the Ocean Shores
Marina and about 30 MEW GULLS and 3 WHIMBREL at Bill's Spit. I will try to get
to the backlog tomorrow.]
