Hi Tweeters! We've just returned from participating in the Pilchuck
Audubon(Everett) Bird- A-Thon and wanted to share some exciting sightings.
At the Everett Sewage Lagoon holding pond: scaup, buffleheads, harlequin, ring
neck, shoveler, pintail, mallard, coots, and red heads! There were 16 red
heads
there that we observed with a couple from Seattle Audubon.
At Spenser Island, birding on the south end was marginal but, the center dyke
was great. Lots of the usuals---marsh wren, killdeer, heron, geese, song
sparrows,
et cetera. But, there also were some Wilson's warblers, osprey, redtail,
harrier,
and MOST exciting---a large, immature female(?) golden eagle! It was seen by
us and 6 other birders, perched in a tree that we were almost under, and in
flight,right over our heads! Wonderful!
