The past two weekends we have been in to the Wenas campground in a Subaru
outback. The water was much lower yesterday than last Sunday. We would
agree with others comments as to the lack of birds. A week ago we saw at
least 3 white-headed woodpeckers, this week none. Several warblers last
week and only a yellow rumped this weekend. It was very, very quiet this
weekend--only 50 species for the trip in from the Ellensburg side and
back. We did see 2 Townsends Solitairs and red naped sapsucker. The
white breasted nuthatches at Bluebird box 16 appeared to be feeding young
this week. A house wren was checking out the box in between trips by
the adult. It was much colder and windier this weekend.

With the improving weather this week, the campout should be great and
hopefully more birds will show up. The ruts in the road may prove more of
a challenge than the water.
