Rose and I walked marymoor yesterday afternoon, hoping to hear the
Swainson's Thrushes, but only heard one for a very short time. There are a
pair of Pied-Billed Grebes near the dock at the south end who appear to be
nest-building. They were both very vocal yesterday afternoon. The big win,
though, was as we were walking through the marsh north from the dock, where
we got to see what we believe were four fledgling marsh wrens. Not very
uncommon, I know, however, while one of them we saw with a parent, at a bit
of a distance, the other three we saw as we approached the woods to the
north, and were no more than two feet from the rail of the boardwalk, and
were ever so cooperative about holding still for a couple pictures. Once
we get the film developed I'll put them up on my web page. They were
adorable!
