WILSON'S PHALAROPE
BULLOCK'S ORIOLE

Please note: the Spring Bird Count for June 6th has been cancelled.

Wednesday, May 20th
----------------------------------
A male WILSON'S PHALAROPE was reported from the Interurban site of Viaduct
Flats. In the evening a female WILSON'S PHALAROPE was reported from the
same location. Note that the female PHALAROPES are the colorful ones, the
males being much duller in coloration.

Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shovelers, Pied-billed Grebe and a Turkey
Vulture were also at Viaduct Flats.

Tuesday, May 19th
----------------------------
A pair of BULLOCK'S ORIOLES were at 1346 Munro Road in North Saanich.
These birds continue to be very vocal and very visible, moreso than any
other Oriole's in the area. Anyone having information about nesting
Oriole's in their area please report these to the tape.

3 singing BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS were along the trail that crosses
Jenning's Lane in Beaver Lake Park.

Blue-winged Teal were at King's Pond, Viaduct Flats and Quick's Bottom.

A CINNAMON TEAL was at Viaduct Flats.

A SWAINSON'S THRUSH was on Bear Hill.

A Peregrine Falcon was on Mt. Newton X Road near the hospital.

7 Whimbrels with Western Sandpipers at Saanichton Spit near the old KOA
campground.

Monday, May 18

A WILSON'S PHALAROPE was at the Duncan sewage lagoon as were several Wood
Ducks.

A trip to Sidney Spit produced a RED KNOT in breeding plumage, 128 Brant
Geese and several Black-bellied Plover.

Sunday, May 17
-----------------------
A pair of Redhead's were at King's Pond at the end of Ascot Drive. These
birds could not be located on Tuesday.

31 Greater White-fronted Geese were on Martindale Flats.

Saturday, May 16
---------------------------
CINNAMON TEAL, Blue-winged Teal and a Wood Duck were at Viaduct Flats.

A Hammond's Flycatcher and a Hairy Woodpecker were at 4655 Kerrieview Drive
off Prospect Lake Road.
