Sightings for Sunday, May 24th
The 2 RED KNOT were again reported south of the pump house at the foot of
112th St. at Boundary Bay.

Sighted from the Iona Jetty were 4 PARASITIC JAEGERS and 80+ COMMON TERN.
The 2 PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER were again reported from Iona's NE pond. Also
reported from Iona were an EASTERN KINGBIRD, 2 WILSON'S PHALAROPE, an
impressive 45 BANK SWALLOWS, 2 male REDHEADS, and 3 GOLDEN-CROWNED
SPARROWS.

Another GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW was sighted in the 1100 block of Pendrill in
Vancouver.

At Cecil Green Park, amongst a large fall out of warblers and vireos was a
NASHVILLE WARBLER.

Birds of note reported from the Reifel Refuge today were an EASTERN
KINGBIRD, 3 BANK SWALLOWS, 18 BRANT, 1 AMERICAN BITTERN, a male
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, 8 COMMON TERN and an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER.

Another 2 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS were reported from Deer Lake Park.

Several CEDAR WAXWINGS were observed at Colony Farm.

At the Pitt Meadows Airport were a female YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD and a
BARN OWL.

Saturday, May 23rd
TWO PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS were sighted on Iona's woodchip covered NE pond.
Also seen at the ponds were 2 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 2 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, and 2 BANK SWALLOWS. Other birds of note from Iona were a
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, a REDHEAD and 4 WHIMBREL.

Another 4 WHIMBREL were seen near the foot of 112th on Boundary Bay. Also
sighted at this location were 2 RED KNOT.

Good numbers of BRANT were seen with 350+ reportedoff the Roberts Bank
Jetty,

A CRESTED MYNA was observed near the intersection of West 7th & Hemlock in
Vancouver.

A second pair of OSPREY are building a nest at Maple Wood Flats.

A BARRED OWL was heard calling at Grace Cres. in North Vancouver.

On the bi-monthly VNHS raptor count in the Pitt Meadows area were 10 TURKEY
VULTURES and 18 OSPREY. All but 2 of the OSPREY were seen in association of
an active nest. Also at Grant Narrows R.P. were 2 MUTE SWANS and a
TRUMPETER SWAN. Approx. 1.5 km south of this location was a BULLOCK'S
ORIOLE.

A single TURKEY VULTURE was seen near 200th and 88th in Langley.

Friday, May 22nd
The arrival EASTERN KINGBIRD was reported from Point Roberts, Lighthouse
Park. BRANT numbering 65 were also reported.

Another 148 BRANT were seen off the Tswwassen Ferry Jetty along with 100
plus PACIFIC LOON.

Thursday, May 21st
At the Iona Ponds today were 3 WILSON'S PHALAROPES, 1 female and 2 males, 4
PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, and an AMERICAN PIPIT. On the outer pond was a male
REDHEAD.

A TURKEY VULTURE was observed soaring NW of Coquitlam's Lougheed Mall.
