Although I live in Olympia (and you Seattlites might decide to limit the
signers to Seattleites), I'd be happy to sign a well-written, carefully
reasoned letter. In particular, I think the letter should point out
(politely) that Sue Donaldson is speaking out of ignorance; with all the
informational resources of Tweeters and Birdchat available to us, we can
surely present some solid information about the hazards of lighted
building. I think the letter should also urge city officials to not only
_not_ undertake a project with negative environmental consequences but to
promote projects reflecting a _positive_ environmental consciousness
appropriate to Seattle in the 21st century. Finally, I think the letter
should not represent Tweeters primarily as a group of bird-watchers (read
"silly, half-bemused, impractical people") but rather as a group of people
interested in natural history and concerned about serious environmental
issues.
