On May 26th I observed an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER briefly at 8:30am at
Packwood,LE, which is a quality bird anywhere west of the Cascades. In
Yakima Co. I observed the LEAST FLYCATCHER as previously reported at the
Oak Creek Game Range west of Wenas Lake. Other notable highlights at this
location included: 1 G.H.Owl, 1 C.Hummingbird, 1 O.S.Flycatcher, 2
D.Flycatchers, 1 H.Flycatcher, 1 P.S/CORDILLERAN type Flycatcher, 12 Bank
Swallows, 1 L.Shrike, and 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW. I birded Toppenish N.W.R. at
10:30am, and observed 12 BOBOLINKS along the south end of Lateral C Rd.
Along Lateral B Rd. notable species included: 2 L.B.Curlew, 8 W.Phalaropes,
4 Am.Avocets, 7 B.N.Stilts, and 3 W.T.SWIFTS. On the lake north of Yakima
Sportsman S.P. was a single CLARK'S GREBE. Travelling south of Mabton
several Sage Thrashers, Brewer's Sparrows, and Lark Sparrows along the main
south road into Klickitat Co. North of Alderdale 5 SAGE SPARROWS, 1
Swainson's Hawk, and 1 L.Shrike were present along Alderdale Rd. A quick
stop at Crow Butte S.P. in Benton Co. produced 1 LAZULI BUNTING, 1 Prairie
Falcon, and 1 Common Loon. At 4pm I birded Rock Creek Rd., where 2
A.T.FLYCATCHERS, 2 Golden Eagles, and 1 Pr.Falcon were present. At Lyle 1
B.C.HUMMINGBIRD was present at a local feeder and the male ANNA'S
HUMMINGBIRD was again seen north of Lyle. At Balch Lake 1 ACORN WOODPECKERS
was seen along with 4 Lewis' Woodpeckers. The next day(today) I started out
birding Conboy N.W.R. near Glenwood in Klickitat Co. along the road to the
HQ, where a W.H. WOODPECKER was present. At Elk Meadows RV Park northwest
of Trout Lake along
Trout Creek 2 R.B.SAPSUCKERS, 3 HERMIT WARBLERS, and 1 R.N.SAPSUCKER were
highlights. On my way home a observed 3 BONEAPARTE'S GULLS at the Washougal
S.T.P. in Clark Co.
