We arrived home last night from our 5000 mile birding experience to
Arizona via the south jetty. Sounds like it's a good thing we went
to the jetty at the beginning of our trip, I'm so glad we got to see
one of those birds before they left.

I haven't had a chance to figure out all the details yet, so you'll
have to wait for a post later in the week, but highlights included
GRAY HAWK, BLACK SKIMMER, and ELEGANT TROGON. The total species
count approached 200 birds, with about 40 lifers.

BTW, after driving through seven western states (ID, WA, OR, CA, UT,
NV, AZ), there was one unifying, annoying item that kept popping up.
How is it that Utah is apparently the only state (that we visited)
that knows the proper orientation of antlers on deer? (funny how
things like highway signs take on greater meaning after all those
miles) Food for thought.
