After reading the PI article maligning the small band of bird
loving kooks, I believe there is some serious
misunderstanding on the part of those that are receiving the
bird lovers message.

If I remember correctly the 'ridiculous' comment was
connected with birds being 'blinded' by the lights. Nothing
could be further from the truth. The problem lies in the fact
that migrating birds rely on the orientation of the stars to
direct their course, and the addition of hundreds or
thousands of new 'stars' in the form of city lights can be
disorienting to the point of disaster, but not 'blinding'.
Maybe someone should try to communicate this message
to the PI and other influentials, if it has not already been
done.

Then again it wouldn't surprise me if this has all been
explained clearly multiple times and the media et al still got
it wrong because they only heard what they wanted to.
