Friday, May 29

The first COMMON NIGHTHAWK reported for the year was over Playfair Park in
Victoria in early evening.

Also, a Spotted Sandpiper was at King's Pond at the north end of Cedar Hill
Golf Course in Saanich.

There was an unconfirmed report of a flock of possible female Yellow-headed
Blackbirds in the Fairfield area of Victoria. These could possibly have
been European Starlings in poor light conditions. However, any
confirmation would be appreciated.

Thursday, May 28

The first RED-EYED VIREO reported this Spring was at Currie Creek on the
Lake Cowichan highway northwest of Duncan. Watch for more of this species
to show up throughout in the region. Also there were 7 or more Western
Wood Pewees, 18 Hammond's Flycatchers.

A Townsend's Solitaire was on Mt. Douglas.

Bullock's Orioles were present and probably nesting at 1346 Munro Road in
North Saanich as well as on Cresswell Road in North Saanich, Glenora Road
and the Glen Meadows Golf Course area also in North Saanich.

Two Hammond's Flycatchers were singing on Mt. Douglas in Saanich.

Wednesday, May 27

A male MAGNOLIA WARBLER was on Mt. Tolmie in the early morning, but has not
been reported since.

2 CASPIAN TERNS were at the mouth of the Sooke River in the Sooke Basin
until at least May 27.
