My wife and I birded Newport bay in an successful search for the ARTIC
LOON. We found the bird along the south Jety during low tide at about
1:30 p.m. Heavy boat traffic near the LNG tank by crabbers may have
pushed it to the jetty area. There were also 5 WHIMBRELS on the mudflats
behind the Marine Science Center.
