Also, if anyone is heading for Nisqually and wants to see a Rufous
Hummingbird on nest try this: Go out the dike trail as if heading for the
delta observation platform. When you reach the turn off to the south to
get to the twin barns. Back track to the bench on the north side of the
trail (just a few paces back) and with your back to the bench look across
the trail (you will be looking south) and somewhat to your left. At about
eye level there is a horizontal branch coming from the right side of a
small alder (?). Where the branch forks is the nest. Not easy to locate
at first but obvious when you find it. She departs and returns regularly
and is probably people-watching (a peopler?) but I didn't see the
appropriate Checklist -- Monroe ans Sibley or Clements counterpart!!
Please enjoy and be careful not to disturb it. I was hesitant to post the
location but I believe if people know where it is it is less likely to be
accidently disturbed and may gain some additional protection --- I hope.
