Today was the first time i went all birding, and not looking for
Dragonflies.So i am back chasing birds again.
Highlights:Rare in Jefferson Co. 1 Male Readhead, Fort Flagler, 1 Rock
Sandpiper, Fort Flagler.700 plus Dunlin's chased by a Merlin.1 Northern
Shrike, Narrowstony Beach. Birding in good weather from 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM
counted 63 Species.
Long time was spend looking at one particular species:ONE LEAST SANDPIPER
alone in the company of 3 Killdeere. This was the same spot where George
Gerdts spotted a STINT Species 2 years ago. I remember it verry well, we
try to find this bird with no success.But this ONE single Least Sandpiper
turned out to be this common Bird.
I started out in Kitsap Memoreal Park with: 5 Common Loons,(1 maybea
Yellow-billed Loon)Patrick is checking this out tomorrow.35 Western
Grebes,16 Red-necked Grebes,8 Horned Grebes,150 Surf Scoters. 2 Hairy
Woodpecker,1Steller Jay,2 Black-capped Chickadee, 1 Chestnut-backed
Chickadee,2 Red-breasted Nuthatch,3 Winter Wren,2 Golden-crowned Kingllet,5
Ruby-crowned Kinglet,2 Varied Thrush, Robins--2Yellow-rumped Warbler,1
Spotted Towhee, 3 Song Sparrows. 1 Fox Sparrow, 10 Dark-eyed Junco.This was
the only place i spend time for little birds, i use my red Bird-call, it
works for me.

Eared Grebe, 8 Pigion Guillemot and around 150 Cormorant species in the
distant feeding on some kind of fish.

High count on Dunlin 700 plus seeing in flight, chased by a Merlin, 75

Harlequin Ducks(verry low count) 65 Surf Scoter, 1 Merlin. 4 Savannah
Sparrow,1 Song Sparrow, on Pond's:1 Male Redhead, 30 American Wigeon, 4
Green winged Teal, 25 Mallard Duck, 6 Red Crossbill , 12 Common Merganser.
This is a good Fieldtrip for Groups to take, we usual also include Port
Townsend.
