jay named Lorenzo. It was one of the funniest books I've ever read, and I
wish I could find a copy"

Lorenzo the jay, used a toilet paper roll as a scooter: He stood on the tube
and rolled it under his feet using beak, wings and talons.

Lorenzo was also a pickpocket. He nipped one victim's earlobe, teased the
hair of another, and slipped an after-dinner mint down the shirt of the
third. While these folks were distracted, he quickly ducked down and plucked
the object he wanted, then flew away.

Lorenzo was also a nice jay; He once summoned his caretaker Mr. Leslie by
"hollering" and "yelling" help. He tugged on Leslie's chest hairs and
carefully led him to a baby bird that had fallen from its nest.

If you'd like to read more about Lorenzo, there is a chapter about him in a
book called "The Human Nature of Birds," by Theodore Xenophon Barber, PH.D.
The original story of Lorenzo, was called "Lorenzo, The Magnificent: The
story of an Orphaned Blue Jay." Author: R.F. Leslie (W.W. Norton, 1985)
