Hello all and Sunday was quite nice till mid-afternoon. The arrival of
wintering waterfowl was represented by a few more male BARROW'S
goldeneyes and WHITE-WINGED scoters and dozens more SURF scoters-must be
over 200 of these now.

The most reportable activity occurred in the woodland area east of the
Senior Center. I saw the top half of a yellow and brown leafed tree with
leaves streaming down from a lot of small bird activity.....feeding
frenzy? Not! They, dozens of 'em, were mobbing a juvenile SHARP-SHINNED
hawk (smallish, perhaps a male.) The mob mix included mostly RUBY-CROWNED
kinglets with a few GOLDEN-CROWNED kinglets, a SONG sparrow or two, both
BLACK-CROWNED and CHESTNUT-BACKED chickadees and a single, beautifully
marked TOWNSEND's warbler, a less common treat for this area.
