Friday, 10/30/98 12:40 p.m. Hi, this is Tom Aversa at 206.782.7342,
reporting from Ellensburg, Kittitas Co., yesterday. Quite a concentration
of buteos north of Ellensburg, working from the airport east, along Brick
Mill Road and that general area. At least 25 RED-TAILS, which is not
unusual I don't think, but quite a high percentage of dark morph birds, I
would say at least 10 dark birds, some of which the species was not
definite because of subpar looks. At least two definite HARLAN'S HAWKS,
some other potential intergrades. It's worth looking at these birds -
could have been some other species involved, also. From Wednesday, at the
Montlake Fill, King Co., there were 4 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 3
alive, one dead, and WESTERN MEADOWLARK, and a mostly-YELLOW-SHAFTED
FLICKER.

Friday, 10/30/98 8:44 a.m. Hi, this is Shiva, 206.623.0753. Today, at
8:10 a.m. just east of the Ballard Bridge, I saw a PEREGRINE FALCON fly
and land on top of a ship. I had a very good look at it. So a PEREGRINE
has been found today... near Ocean [] Seafoods. Good luck and good
birding.
